P-38H-1 Lightning is a very rare and unique aircraft and one of the few surviving WWII aircraft that actually saw combat.
Bu 42-66534 flew with the famed 475th FG "Satan's Angels". Recovered several years ago it was brought back to the U.S. where additional parts have been acquired and a full restoration to airworthy condition has been planned.
The Lightning will be sold with a full restoration contract to flight status which will have quality and performance guarantees in place.
The current owner has tentative plans with several restoration shops to rebuild the subassemblies so that this project can be completed in 4 years.
It is planned to restore the P-38H-1 as a stock single seat fighter to full combat configuration. If the buyer wishes, a removable second seat (P-38M) can be installed for an additional cost.
